Trans Mountain Pipeline and the imminent peril of global warming: BC Court Case moves step closer to first-in-Canada ‘climate necessity’ defence

 

June 30, 2020 – Six years ago I went with my sister on the 2014 First Nations-led Healing Walk at Alberta’s oil sands operations north of Fort McMurray…

Next week she and retired lawyer David Gooderham —  both of whom were arrested at Trans Mountain pipeline worksites in Burnaby in 2018 — are in the BC Court of Appeal to advance their potentially groundbreaking case on oil sands expansion and climate.

The Nations in the tar sands region who hosted the walk included the Athabascan Chipewyan and the Lubicon Cree….
